Are you new to Truehope and wondering what you can do to find out more about EMPowerplus or the Truehope Program? Our telephone support staff are a wonderful source of knowledge, however, during peak calling times you may not be able to get through to ask your questions. The following is a list of things to read or sites to visit to help get you up to speed. You may find that many of your questions will be answered as you take the time to explore these suggestions.
- Read the book "These Painted Wings". This is the real Truehope story as told by Autumn Stringam, the daughter of co-founder Anthony Stephan, who became well using EMPowerplus. You'll be shocked to discover that much of what Autumn has experienced as both a mentally ill person and as a completely recovered bipolar is exactly what you have experienced or will experience as a new participant in Truehope. This is definitely a book of hope and understanding and one that you will want to pass along to your family and friends. Ask for your copy when you order EMPowerplus.
- Listen to the latest recorded conference calls on myTruehope.net. Start with the call from June 8 where co-founders Anthony Stephan and David Hardy
tell their story
of how it all began. Tony shares how the suicide death of his bipolar wife
motivated him to find answers for his devastated family - eventually leading to the recovery of his son Joseph and daughter Autumn. David talks
about how his experience in the animal feed business helped him prepare the
unique mental health formula we now know as EMPowerplus. This call will help you understand the passion and commitment behind the Truehope Program.
- Browse the message boards on myTruehope.net. Chances are that you will find someone who has or is experiencing the same mental health issues as you.
- Download and review "Planning for Success" and the "Nutrient Profile" or view them online at myTruehope.net. These two documents together will help you understand how the program works and what you need to do to maximize the benefits of EMPowerplus.
- There is also much that can be learned from browsing the information on Truehope.com. Listen to media clips, read news articles, or view a presentation on the published EMPowerplus research studies.
At Truehope, we realize that starting something new can be challenging. Taking the time now to learn more about Truehope and EMPowerplus will help you achieve your mental wellness goals even faster. Knowledge is power and we are striving hard to provide you with the best possible program tips and information to help you be successful. If you have any questions about the suggestions listed above, please feel free to contact us and we will do our best to assist you.
It is well known that stress, both physical and emotional, affect digestion and nutrient absorption in the gut and can lead to vitamin and mineral imbalances and deficiencies. Truehope believes that these nutrient deficiencies, if left unchecked, can eventually result in a wide variety of mental illnesses including bipolar and depression.
It stands to reason, therefore, that reducing the amount of stress in one's life can have the positive effect of better nutrient absorption in the body, and thus having a beneficial effect on mental health. So what can you do to manage stress? The Canadian Mental Health Association provides these helpful tips for reducing and/or eliminating stress in your daily life:
- Recognize your symptoms of stress
- Look at your lifestyle and see what can be changed -- in your work situation, your family situation, or your schedule
- Use relaxation techniques - yoga, meditation, deep breathing, or massage
- Moderate exercise - Moderate physical activity such as walking or jogging is one of the most effective stress remedies around!
- Time management - Do essential tasks and prioritize the others. Consider those who may be affected by your decisions, such as family and friends. Use a check list so you will receive satisfaction as you check off each job as it is done
- Watch your diet - Alcohol, caffeine, sugar, fats and tobacco all put a strain on your body's ability to cope with stress. A diet with a balance of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and foods high in protein but low in fat will help create optimum health. Contact your local branch of the Heart and Stroke Foundation for further information about healthy eating
- Get enough rest and sleep
- Talk with others - Talk with friends, professional counselors, support groups or relatives about what is bothering you
- Help others - Volunteer work can be an effective and satisfying stress reducer
- Get away for awhile - Read a book, watch a movie, play a game, listen to music or go on vacation. Leave yourself some time that's just for you
- Work off your anger - Get physically active, dig in the garden, start a project, get your spring cleaning done
- Give in occasionally - Avoid quarrels whenever possible
- Tackle one thing at a time - Don't try to do too much at once.
- Don't try to be perfect
- Ease up on criticism of others
- Don't be too competitive
- Make the first move to be friendly
- Have some fun!! Laugh and be with people you enjoy!
Truehope was recently acquitted of all charges laid by Health Canada (the Canadian equivalent of the FDA) and now a Calgary newspaper is saying that Health Canada's actions betrayed the trust of Canadians. Read the article below to learn more.
